Quotes from my friend Jim

As I mentioned before, I am dedicating the month of September to sharing quotes from mentors of mine who are no longer with us. Here's one from the always inspiring Jim Rohn:

"We can have more than we've got because we can become more than we are."

It's a good life!

MasterMind Afterglow

I'm taking a few days off this week to spend with family and recuperate after our biggest event of the year, MasterMind Summit here in San Diego. We worked hard on the event in the weeks and months leading up to it, and now that it's over, it's time to let the body rest for a bit!

Presenting onstage it's difficult to gauge how the event was for you guys, so I was glad to get feedback, both in person and through social media. I have to say we were thrilled to hear so many positive comments and reactions.

One of my favorite things was seeing the Niego and Buffini kids running to the marketplace at breaktime to sell wrist bands for the On the Helpline charity. What a great memory that will be for them, and also what a great education in business, philanthropy and so much more.

As always, you guys are what makes the event tick. The energy in the room was fantastic and we were on a journey together discovering our talents, and how we can better use them. I know this much...I'm ready for MasterMind 2013.

It's a good life!

Stop the merry-go-round!

Today I am in Canada speaking to a large group of agents and brokers about the fundamentals of successful real estate and how to run a business like a business. And if there’s one thing Buffini & Company is invested in, it’s how to help small-business owners elevate their skills and become professional business owners. This industry can often have a “rollercoaster” feel to it, but these peaks and valleys in income are detrimental to independent contractors. Your bills come in steadily. So should your ability to deal with them!

Luckily there’s a way to achieve that. You don’t have to be at the whim of the market and we’ve laid out the habits, attitude and skills that will get you there in a step-by-step training program that's taking the industry by storm. Since our January launch, thousands of people across North America have signed up for Peak Producers. And the results are outstripping our minimum expectation of 10 leads and 3 deals in the 12 weeks.

See for yourself - Peak Producers and let's get control of our businesses and stop the merry-go-round.

It’s a good life!

3 things you can do today to increase productivity

Over the years at our MasterMind and Peak Performers events we cover next-level content we don’t normally get a chance to cover at the Turning Point. One of the things I enjoy most when developing this kind of content is delving into productivity and how best to achieve it at a consistent and high level. Many of you are familiar with the “Win the Day” Formula and how effective it is on a day-to-day basis for excelling with the Referral System. But what about general productivity?

All too often it’s easy to get distracted. We live in a world that demands our attention from every angle and there are countless ways we find ourselves pulled off task. Keeping things simple is key. And the key to keeping things simple is making them doable.

There are three things you can do today to increase your productivity and shore up your peace of mind.

  1. Focus
  2. Take a break
  3. Focus again

1. Focus
Multi-tasking is often held up as a skill, but in reality when we are totally focused and consumed by one task that is often the area in which we excel. Make a list of what you need to get done in a day, then pick the highest priority and get to work.

2. Take a break
I’ve spoken about the Tony Schwartz book ‘The Power of Full Engagement’ many times and it’s a great read to help you in the area of rest and recovery. What you need to remember is this one thing: Take a break. We are not designed to go full tilt all the time. Rest so that you can go again. Refuel so that you are ready for the next task.

3. Focus again
Move on to the next thing on your list. It’s as simple as that.

Productivity does not mean busy. It’s means achieving those things that are most important. Follow these simple steps and watch your task list disappear.

It’s a good life!

Things my father taught me...

As with most emigrants who leave home and family behind, it’s only when you are gone do you fully appreciate and recognize the support and encouragement family represents. And I was no different.

As a young lad I was eager to travel and seek my fortune. The excitement of a new country and culture coupled with my drive and ambition kept me moving full steam ahead. But I never forgot where I came from. And that has sustained me greatly through the years.

Along the way I’ve sought solace and advice in the many things my father taught me. And as you well know, our company is founded on the principles of service and exceeding expectations that my dad and his dad before him instilled in all of us.

We can always do with reaching out for help, looking to others for advice and learning from those who’ve gone before.

Are there things your father taught you that could help you today? Are there truisms your mother passed on that could do with a dust off? Are there principles that someone influential in your life shared with you that you could use to get through a challenge or a tough time? I know this much…things my father taught me help me all the time!

I just wanted to say hi, and remind any of you who've never been that this beautiful part of the world is a must visit. Oh, by the way...the Canadian real estate market isn't too shabby either!

Operating at full potential.

Aloha!

I'm taking a needed break with family this week but I just wanted to take a second to pose a question:

Are you operating at your full potential?

If not, then what you are waiting for? Challenges only serve to make us stronger and help us groove some new gears - like so many of us have done through these difficult months. And even if they get a little rusty, we must continue to engage them and keep our skills sharp. If you have some uptapped potential then it's time to get after it. Now would be a good time to be running on all cylinders, don't you think?

Congrats to those of you who participated in the Blitz - I'll let you know the stats next week but be sure to input your numbers so we can tally them up and get the good news on how you guys are shaping this industry for the better.

It's a good life!
