Heard in the hallways

A couple of years ago during the height of the real estate boom, many began to look at the industry as a career option. Often when I talked to people they’d say, “Oh, I can do that,” or “I’m a people person – this would be perfect for me!

Whatever reasons led them to real estate, the reality of what it entails would soon be clear. Thing is, you don’t ‘try’ this business out; it tries you out! If you’re in business today, you’re a winner because you’ve come through the tough times and been tried out by the business. And you’re part of a group moving toward the industry forward in a professional manner every day.

It’s truly a good life!

Just a reminder

Real estate sales is such a noble profession - you get out of it exactly what you put into it. And it’s for that very reason that it’s so important you take care of yourself – both mentally and physically.

As an entrepreneur, you put so much into this business that you need to carve out recovery time for yourself. Are you doing that?

It’s not always easy with the demands on our schedule, but Mrs. Buffini and I plan and commit to vacation time months before it happens. We know from experience it’s too easy to cave into the demands of the day.

Just a quick reminder…take care of yourself today!

It’s a good life!

Hello Canada!

This week Joe and myself are bringing the 2-day Turning Point event to Vancouver in beautiful British Columbia, Canada. I have to say that it's one of my favorite places in North America. If you've never been, you've got to go. If you already have, then come up and join us for a couple of days!

The air just feels fresher and for a San Diego-based Irishman like myself the threat of 'weather' looming is familiar and comforting - believe it or not! I do love the sunny skies of southern California but the Celt in me also loves the unpredictability of weather up here in B.C.

It's like this business of real estate...we can't ever predict it accurately but we can adjust to the conditions, dress for it, and get on with it!

It's a good life!

No news is good news

As I prepare for the Peak Experience event here in San Diego this week one thing that won't be on my mind is politics. Yes, it can feel almost impossible to shield yourself from the onslaught of reporting, analysis and endless commentary but it is not impossible to control how much of that media gets your mindshare.

Too often we fall prey to stories designed to capture our attention. They can ruin our day, throw us off course and sap the very energy we need for our work. I'm not saying 'turn off your TV/radio and opt out'...but I am saying that you need to be very careful with what you allow in. Good stuff in...good stuff out.

You're the number one asset in your business. Take care of yourself.

It's a good life!
